Local Artist in Residency: Open for application

This residency is dedicated mostly to recent graduates from accredited schools, colleges and institutions, and artists involved in a multi-cultural project that requires them to spend up to two months in NYC to develop or organize a project or a body of work.

Amongst the organizations involved in this project are Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX and WhiteBox, NY.

Studios for Local residencies are usually fully or partially donated by Reis Studios. We also meet the costs of utilities and internet.

Benefits include the tremendous value of being in Reis Studios’ vibrant working artists community, networking opportunities, and an exemption from the normal 12-month minimum residency requirement to stage a Reis Studios Artist Talk. For their Artist Talk (a mandatory element of the program), we contribute our 2nd floor art gallery, Art Plus LIC, plus utilities, internet, projector and audio equipment.

Past residencies include Anh-Thuy Nguyen, a multi-media artist, John Dickinson (multi-media), Kristen Cochran (painting/sculpture), Melissa Randall (installation), Jill Foley (installation), Vance Wingate (painting) and Aqsa Shakil (painting).

Applications for our Local Artist-in-Residency program must be made by your educational institution prior to your graduation. Please ask your institution to contact us to discuss your possible participation in the program.
